Tshwane man arrested for butchering his dog

COPS bust a man for allegedly killing a six-month-old puppy and cutting off its hind legs.
The man’s arrest on Wednesday evening comes after the shocking incident in Temba, Hammanskraal in Tshwane on New Year’s Day, when the mutilated body of the dog was found.
Residents believe the killing might have been for muthi as the legs are still missing.
Cops found bloodstained shoes in the 52-year-old man’s house.
An 11-year-old girl who witnessed the killing told residents, who called the SPCA and the cops.
Residents said the dog was the third one to be killed in recent months.
The dog’s owner, Karabo Mashike (40), said his family is shocked that their dog died like this.
“This killing has left open wounds in our hearts. Witnesses said they saw him beating the dog with a wooden stick and covering bloodstains with soil early on Monday morning.”
Sangoma Majoko Hlungwani said dogs’ legs were used by some traditional healers to predict their clients’ future.
“Harming animals is wrong and the ritual killings of dogs must be stopped,” he said.
SPCA Inspector Mishack Matlou said they were appalled about what happened.
“We are appealing to law enforcers to help us to deal with such cases.”
Police spokesman Constable Herman Moremi said the man was arrested at his home.
“He faces charges of cruelty to animals and will appear in the Moretele Magistrates Court soon.”
